We were all waiting for the numbers to come through, and Nintendo has now confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 ha sold 3.5 million units in its first four days on sale.
These are the global sales for the console, and Nintendo has confirmed that this is its fastest selling console launch of all-time, but it goes much further than that absolutely obliterating sales of any console launch that has happened.
For comparison, the Nintendo Switch sold 2.74 million units in its first month, whilst the PS5 sold 3.4 million units in its first four weeks on sale, so the fact that the Nintendo Switch 2 was able to sell 3.5 million units in its first four days is absolutely crazy. To put this further into perspective, the Steam Deck has sold roughly 3.7 million units (according to analysts) in its entire 4.5 years since release.
Nintendo had been preparing stock for the Nintendo Switch 2 for almost a year with the unit still selling out in the US, Japan and Europe instantly with millions unable to get stock on day one.
It’ll be interesting to see how this number continues to grow with the Nintendo Switch 2 having a stellar launch line-up through the end of the year and stock still being sold out worldwide.
